MALTBY, Wash. (AP) – A Washington state man is accused of using a bulldozer to push an SUV with his adult son inside down an embankment.

The Daily Herald reported Sunday that 78-year-old John Postema was arrested last week on suspicion of first-degree assault.

The son told the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office that Postema drove the bulldozer through a barbed wire fence and pushed his Jeep Cherokee down the 20-foot (6-meter) embankment at the family’s nursey in Maltby.

Public defender Tobin Klusty argued at a bail hearing last week that authorities did not have enough evidence to establish probable cause.

Klusty said the sheriff’s office report did not specify on how fast the bulldozer was going or if the son was injured.

The judge determined there was probable cause but released Postema without bail.
