Fat Joe is a certified legend in the rap game and has always how’s he is able to adapt to the current climate and sounds of the industry. Well, he did it again with his latest club banger called “YES”. Its features two of the hottest artists out right now Cardi B and Anuel AA and a very distinct Latin sample that dates back to 1972.

If you’re of Hispanic heritage or have been around that culture, then you probably would have noticed that Fat Joe used the infamous song “Aguanile” from Héctor Lavoe and Willie Colón. This song is from a Santeria chant. Its meaning is simple: it refers to the ritual of cleaning oneself of bad spirits and cleaning your home of bad spirits.

It awesome to see legendary songs be brought back into the mainstream culture decades later. Fat Joe is always trying to move forward Latin culture and for him to revisit this legendary song is no exception to the vision as an artist.
