Sampling has always been a part of the hip-hop culture and is an art form WE truly appreciate.

Lil Wayne is no stranger to being in the spotlight. WE have been patiently waiting for “Tha Carter V” to drop for years and after his lengthy lawsuit, WE finally received it this year. One of the stand-out tracks is “Uproar”, an aggressive 90’s sounding club banger. WE want to focus on the 90’s part though.

If it sounds familiar its because he sampled G. Dep’s infamous song “Special Delivery” which when heard it is a quintessential product of the 90’s.

But it doesn’t stop there. WE found the original sound that G. Dep sampled.

It’s from “Switched-On Rock” is an album of instrumental cover songs, popular songs from the mid-to-late-1960s, performed on the Moog modular synthesizer in an exaggerated electronic style. Which they sampled from “The Supremes”.

It’s always fascinating to see music from different era’s being used and modulated to create a new form of art. It is quite spectacular.
