Sampling has always been a part of the hip-hop culture and is an art form WE truly appreciate.

Jaden Smith is considered one of the young princes in the new school Hip-Hop. His style, lyricism, and production are proof of that. He has proved it again with his latest power single “Icon”.

Growing up with his famous father he has been exposed to so much history and culture. He was not afraid to go into the musical archives to find the perfect sample he needed for this song.

The sample on this song is from one of the most iconic Jazz Scat musicians of all time, Cab Calloway. The song he sampled is called “Hi-De-Ho-Man”.
