A post shared by Usher (@usher) on

Usher kicked off the new year with a new do. But, the debut of his retro-inspired look would not have been complete without a proper Internet roasting.

On Tuesday, the Confessions star took to Instagram to share a photo of himself sporting a permed coiffe.  Usher revealed in the caption that the hair style was inspired by the infamous “rat pack,” a late 50’s group of entertainers making the rounds of the casino scene in Las Vegas.

While it’s still unclear whether the R&B crooner was tapping into a special project or simply paying homage to his predecessors, the Internet didn’t hesitate to turn Usher’s new look into a saga of jokes. “Usher out here looking like all five of the heartbeats,” one Twitter user wrote.

Usher bout to start doing K-Pop 2019, wrote another  as a photo of the singer’s new hair style began to make it rounds.

Despite his channeling of Sammy Davis Jr. getting mixed reviews, Usher took the criticism in stride. “Y’all are funny man. Y’all funny,” he said laughingly during a video posted to his Instagram story. “But, I see you see talking. Stay tuned.”
