PORTLAND, Ore.—Initial prep work is underway on TriMet’s Lloyd MAX Improvements project. During the project, crews will replace and upgrade sections of track in the Lloyd neighborhood to keep trains running on time and make the ride smoother. The work is quite extensive and requires a two-week disruption of MAX service Sunday, Aug. 4 through Saturday, Aug. 17. The project will have the biggest impact on MAX riders since spring 2017 when we made major improvements on Morrison and Yamhill streets in Downtown Portland.

Our contract crews assemble sections of rail that will go in the ground during the disruption. Crews will be grinding and welding the rail, which is a quite visual process. Doing this prep work is critical to keep the shutdown to just two weeks.  Riders are encouraged to plan ahead.  Working from home if possible is a good option.  Ride sharing is another.  Shuttle buses will be available so passengers can make connections .  MAX Blue, Green and Red lines will be impacted.
