With Daft Punk recently announcing their breakup, one of their big collaborators, The Weeknd reminisced on how Daft Punk influenced his own music.

During an interview last year, The Weeknd was in awe when talking about the French music duo, “Those guys are one of the reasons I make music, so I can’t even compare them to other people. Their branding and how seriously they take their craft and image and everything — they’re almost not even real.”

The Weeknd worked with Daft Punk on two chart-topping hits, “Starboy” and the duo’s first American number one, “I Feel It Coming,” which is one of The Weeknd’s favorite songs.

The Weeknd says he was desperate to get in the studio with the “robots,” he actually partied with “Guy-Man” or Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, out in L.A. several times before actually working with him.
