Rihanna’s Cosmetics Line Met With Backlash Over New Product
Rihanna‘s latest Fenty Beauty product launch nearly cost the budding mogul a fan…or several.
F*nty naming a highlighter Geisha Chic Hunny is a big fucking yikes and this not the first time she’s been racist towards Asians either

Early last week, the beauty franchise announced a new line of bronzers and highlighter shades, with one, in particular, being deemed culturally insensitive. The highlighter in question, named “Geisha Chic,” sparked controversy online from fans who felt the shade’s name and red pigments appropriated Japanese culture.
. @fentybeauty has a new highlighter named “geisha chic…” ummmm? Rihanna… explain why Asian targeted racism gets glossed over, it feels even worse when it’s from another marginalized group 😓

Amid the backlash, Fenty Beauty has reportedly pulled the product from its impending new line. That’s according to one Reddit user, who criticized the brand on its dedicated Instagram page. That user claims to have received a direct message from Fenty Beauty in which the brand apologized for the oversight.
“We hear you, we’ve pulled the product until it can be renamed. We wanted to personally apologize. Thank you so much for educating us,” a screenshot of the message read.
Despite the highlighter snafu, fans are now commending Rih and Fenty Beauty for their immediate response. The new line of products is due to arrive on shelves April 5.
