Women Take Over The 2019 XXL Freshman Class
XXL has officially unveiled its prestigious Freshman Class list for this year, and women in hip-hop are leading the pack.
Thursday, the outlet shared its cover, which features Rico Nasty, Tierra Whack, Megan Thee Stallion, and more, via social media. It marks a historic first for the magazine: More women than ever before are included on the list.
Blueface, DaBaby, YBN Cordae, Gunna, Comethazine, Lil Mosey, Roddy Rich and YK Osiris also made the cut.
Over the next few weeks, XXL will release in-depth content centered around each artist, including behind-the-scenes clips, one-on-one interviews, freestyles and roundtable discussions. This year’s Freshman cypher will be lead by DJ Scheme.
The XXL Freshman issue will hit newsstands July 16. Fans can catch the inductees live at the 2019 XXL Freshman show, taking place July 22 at New York City’s PlayStation Theater. An L.A. edition of the concert is set to follow on July 25 at The Novo.
