R. Kelly’s attorney filed a motion Monday requesting his client be released because only one of his two “lady friends” can visit him.

“His visits are severely restricted; presently, he is only allowed one unrelated person to visit,” lawyer Steve Greenberg wrote in the 11-page document, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

“In other words, although he lives and has lived with two lady friends, only one of them is allowed to be on his visiting list, and after 90 days he is required to switch,” he continued. “No other friends or professional colleagues are allowed to visit. That is not right.”

Greenberg also claims that the “Bump n’ Grind” singer is suffering health problems from lack of adequate medical care, including “numbness in his hand, anxiety, and an untreated hernia.”

Kelly has been held on federal sex crime charges in a Chicago area jail since being arrested in July.

The three-time Grammy-winner faces a combined 18 counts in federal indictments in Chicago and New York City, including charges of child pornography, enticing a minor into illegal sexual activity and conspiracy to obstruct justice by attempting to pay off and intimidate witnesses.

Kelly could potentially be sentenced to over 200 years in prison.

A status hearing in his New York case is set for Wednesday, and a trial in the federal case in Chicago is scheduled to begin April 27, 2020.

Kelly is also facing abuse-related charges in Cook County, Illinois and Hennepin County, Minnesota.
