R. Kelly, already indicted on 21 criminal counts of sexual assault and abuse, is now facing over a dozen more.

The R&B singer was arrested Thursday night in Chicago on a 13-count indictment that includes charges of child pornography and obstruction of justice, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Chicago.

Unlike the previous charges, however, these new counts appear to be related to alleged activities in New York. Kelly was arrested Thursday by NYPD detectives and is expected to be brought to New York City, ABC News has learned.

Darrell Johnson, a representative for Kelly, told ABC News he will make a statement on Kelly’s behalf Friday morning at 9:30 ET at Loews Atlanta Hotel.

No further details on the new charges were available as of early Friday morning.

Kelly, 52, pleaded not guilty in a Chicago court last February to ten counts of aggravated sexual abuse allegedly involving three girls and one woman.  Then in June, he pleaded not guilty to an additional 11 counts of sex-related charges, including four aggravated criminal sexual assault charges.  Each of those four charges carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.
