Practice Facilities Will Be Open Again to Blazer Players on Friday

Trail Blazers’ insider Dwight Jaynes reported today that practice facilities will be open again to players this Friday. This will be the first time players are allowed in the facilities since the NBA asked that all teams’ practice areas be closed to players in March.

Adam Silver originally made a statement to all teams that they could resume limited player workouts on May 1, but was eventually pushed back a week. The doors to the facilities will open on Friday, but under several restrictions previously announced:

Individual workouts only. No actual practices.

No more than four players at the facility at one time. And not more than one player per basket.

Players must wear face masks at all times, except when engaged in physical activity.

Staffers working with players must wear gloves.

Physical distancing of at least 12 feet.

Each team must assign one senior executive to the position of “Facility Hygiene Officer.”

This will offer players the ability to resume basketball activities, and begin getting back into the weight room and other facility amenities. However, it’s not considered a clear sign that the NBA is any closer to resuming play.
