In a new interview with GQ Magazine, Post Malone admits that he “badly wanted to be like Mac Miller, Travis Scott and A$AP Rocky.”
Finding his unique sound was a process but growing up listening to Mac Miller and being influenced by Miller’s Sufjan Stevens flip on “Donald Trump” as well as Bright Eyes’ Conor Oberst “definitely inspired me,” Post says.
Mac was one of the first artists Post developed a relationship with and working with Travis Scott on “Take What You Want” earned both artists their first hit on the Billboard Rock chart.
With all of his success, Post Malone has created a lane for himself that surely will have newer artists wanting to be like him.
