Salem. Or. –  The Oregon State Parks Department says it posts warning signs at beach access  points to its parks. A Vancouver man drowned after he was swept away by a rip tide at Nehalem Bay State Park Friday. He was camping there with his family.

Chris Havel with State Parks says “most of the beach accesses we manage have a safety sign at the entrance to the access there. And while we can’t warn everybody about every hazard, we look for things that are common in a particular area and we warn to them. So, you’ll see things about rip tides and logs.”
