Matt Damon revealed he turned down a major role that promised a huge payday. During the Cannes Film Festival, Damon revealed he was asked to star in Avatar.

James Cameron’s magical film garnered $2.8 in box office sales worldwide and the director offered Damon the role of “Jack” and 10 percent of the revenue which would’ve given him a $280 million paycheck.

Matt currently has an estimated worth of $170 million, but he doesn’t see his missed opportunity as a tragedy but sees it as a funny story.

The reason Matt turned down Avatar was that he didn’t want to abandon the Jason Bourne series. Damon’s friend, John Krasinski, had an interesting perspective telling Damon, “Nothing would be different in your life if you had done ‘Avatar’, except you and me would be having this conversation in space.”
