After a year that few artists could ever imagine, Lil Nas X needs a break.

The 20-year-old star announced via Twitter on Friday that he’d be stepping away from the spotlight for awhile, which means he’s canceling two music festival appearances.

“It’s been a wild last 7 months and im ready to take a little time off,” Lil Nas tweeted. “Sorry to everyone attending twitchcon or the sandbox music festival, I will not be there. I love u guys and will make it up to you some way.”

His fans seem totally accepting of his need for some “me” time, tweeting messages such as, “take care of yourself baby,”  “all good come back stronger” and “No worries homie get that rest.”

2019 has definitely been a lot for the rapper. In less than 12 months, Lil Nas shattered chart records with “Old Town Road,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 19 weeks. His debut EP 7 went platinum, his song “Panini” went top five, he performed around the world, he won two MTV VMAs and, in the midst of everything, he came out as gay.
