While all of the recent music chart attention went to Lil Nas X for Old Town Road, there’s someone else quietly trying to make history.

Khalid’s smash hit Talk just became the third longest-running number one song on Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs Chart.

Talk has spent 18 weeks at the top of that chart. He just passed Rihanna’s Diamonds. Her song was number 1 for 17 weeks. To get to second place, Khalid needs to get by Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines. That spent 19 weeks at number 1.

To tie the record of 20 weeks, Khalid would have to hang on for 2 more weeks. Three songs are tied for that record: Drake’s One Dance, The Weeknd’s Starboy and Bruno Mars’ That’s What I Like.
