Even though Kendrick Lamar doesn’t have any new music out, his old music is making Hip-Hop History.
According to Chart Data, Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city album, has tied Eminem’s album, The Eminem Show, by being on the Billboard 200 chart for 350 weeks.

The two albums are the only Hip-Hop albums to reach the milestone, however K. Dot could surpass Eminem.
Besides their Dr. Dre connection and mainstream numbers, Eminem and Kendrick are connected by the admiration Dot has for Eminem. The Pulitzer Prize winner dubbed Eminem the “best wordsmith ever” during a 2018 interview with Vanity Fair. He also went on record stating that observing Eminem’s studio behavior inspired GKMC’s “Backseat Freestyle.”
“When I have that aggression in the record like that [on “Backseat Freestyle”], that’s tricks that I learned being in that studio and dedicating myself; being a student,” Kendrick told Vibe. “Eminem was definitely a sought-out player that I always respected and looked up to.”
Now the student is in a position to surpass the teacher. GKMC currently sits at No. 152, a decent position to overtake the record.
