MackWop, Kendrick Lamar’s childhood friend, and DJ took to YouTube on New Year’s Eve to say that he has one plan for 2019, to facilitate a Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole project.

“If we being honest, I think I’m gonna be the one that can make it happen,” he said. “They both my n****s. I’ma get it done. So look forward to that, 2K19 we speaking it into existence. I’m gonna be the nigga to get the J. Cole and K-Dot records out. I’m gonna get K-Dot on the line, I’ma get Top on the phone, I’ma get Cole on the phone. I’ma be like, ‘Yo we gotta get these records out, the people need them.’”

There have been talks of a joint album between Lamar and Cole since 2010, but Angie Martinez interviewed J. Cole in 2018 and when asked about the collaboration, he said it “wasn’t actively happening.”

In 2017 a fan on Twitter asked Terrence ‘Punch’ Henderson about a Kendrick Lamar/J. Cole album and he said it “probably never happen.”
