Here’s a surprise…not: Kanye West‘s new album Jesus Is King won’t be coming out on Friday after all.
Sources tell Billboard that Kanye has delayed the release of the gospel album, for unknown reasons. It’s similar to the confusion that surrounded his previous album Yandhi, which was delayed at the last minute in 2018, and never actually saw the light of day.
According to Billboard, Kanye mentioned the album briefly during his Sunday Service last weekend in Wyoming. On Sunday night, he was seen with producer Rick Rubin, who worked on two of Kanye’s last three solo projects.
Adding to the confusion: Last weekend, Kanye actually appeared on stage at a Victory Boyd concert and announced that Jesus Is King would be coming out on Friday.

A New York Times writer tweeted Thursday that Kanye was in Wyoming attempting to finish the album, but that it was unlikely it’ll arrive this week.
it’s Kanye so who knows but I’m hearing from many industry people that “Jesus Is King” is not coming on Friday, despite people on the ground in Wyoming trying to make it happen……..

Last month, Kanye’s wife Kim Kardashian West posted a photo of the album’s purported track list, with the date September 27 written on the bottom. Kanye posted the same image on his website a few days later, seemingly confirming that the record was coming. One of the songs on the track list, “Water,” had been debuted at one of Kanye’s Sunday Services earlier this year.

In 2018, Kanye managed to release five albums in five weeks, two on which he appeared, and three others he produced.
