Jury Selection Set To Begin In R. Kelly’s Sex Trafficking Case
Two years after R. Kelly’s arrest, he is set to begin his federal trial today (August 9) in New York City.
The disgraced singer has been charged with racketeering, sexual exploitation of a child, kidnapping, bribery, and forced labor. Compared to his criminal case in 2008, this case will provide more evidence.
The prosecution is expected to bring forth text messages from 2016 where employees refer to an 18-year-old woman who was allegedly being punished by the singer.
Evidence of 19 females will be presented. Seven were minors during their contact with Kelly. New evidence will also be presented about a 17-year-old boy who he met at a Chicago McDonald’s that he allegedly abused.
