Juice WRLD Is Being Sued For $15 Million
Juice WRLD is being sued over his hit song, “Lucid Dreams.” The now-defunct band, Yellowcard claims that the rapper “copied melodic elements” from their 2006 song, “Holly Wood Died.”
Yellowcard is seeking damages in the amount of $15 million. A lawsuit was filed by the group’s lawyer, Richard Busch, who told Billboard that the men didn’t want to file the lawsuit but had no choice after there was no response from Juice WRLD collaborators, Taz Taylor and Nicholas Mira.
Yellowcard is seeking a “running royalty and/or ownership share” on future uses of the track or “statutory” compensation “for each act of copyright infringement.
According to the complaint Yellowcard says, “this is not just a generic Emo Rap song, but is a blatant copy of significant original compositional elements of Holly Wood Died in several respects. Beyond that, everything we have to say is in the Complaint.”
