Nipsey Hussle‘s touching homecoming ceremony, on Thursday, at the Los Angeles Staples Center was truly a celebration of life for the late rapper.
While a handful of family and close friends, including Hussle’s parents, siblings and longtime partner Lauren London, paid tribute to the community activist, his legacy was also honored by the likes of JAY Z and Kendrick Lamar.

In the memorial’s program, Jay shared a heartfelt letter in which he lauded the Victory Lap lyricist for his “brilliance” and “curious soul.”
“The world just got to see a flash of your brilliance,” the personal message reads. “You were a curious soul who was evolving at a speed that was truly inspiring. The seeds you have planted are already bearing fruit.”
The rap mogul added: “The outpouring of admiration is testimony to the love and respect you’ve farmed. Sleep well King, The Marathon continues as a line of energy for all of us to consider.”
In 2013, Jay is alleged to have purchased 100 copies of Hussle’s critically-acclaimed Mailbox Money mixtape, which were being sold at $1,000 each.
As for Lamar, the fellow L.A. artist called Hussle a “vessel from God” and reflected about their early days on the road touring together, Complex reports.
“[Hussle’s] charisma and way with words was powerful. But his integrity as a person made me even more enthused,” the DAMN lyricist wrote.
Lamar continued, “I watched a young, ambitious black male orchestrate fellowship amongst the men around him on that tour. Determined to execute one thing—and that was Greatness. Greatness in knowledge, greatness in wealth, and greatness in self. “
Long live Nipsey Hussle The Great.
