EMI Counter Sues Kanye West Over ‘Servitude’ Contract

Kanye West is upset over his publishing contract which says he has to record, write and produce music as his main profession and can never retire.

According to EMI, Kanye’s “servitude” claim would work if the contract was governed by the laws of California, however, however, EMI says the contract is governed by the laws of New York which has no seven-year clause on personal services.

Kanye has resigned the same contract and every modification over seven times since 2003. EMI is asking the court to rule in the validity of the contract and they’re asking for Kanye’s lawsuit to be dropped.
