DMX Says He Has New Music Is On The Way
It’s the Year of the Dog…Again: DMX is readying new music as he returns to where it all began — Def Jam.
Over the weekend, the rap veteran seemingly confirmed that he had inked a new deal with the iconic label. He also said he’s preparing fresh rhymes for his fans.
“New music soon,” X captioned an Instagram video featuring friend and frequent collaborator Swizz Beatz — essentially announcing they have something cooking up in the studio.
While the details surrounding DMX’s new music are far and few in between, a source has confirmed to XXL that the former Ruff Ryders frontman is, in fact, back under Def Jam’s roster.
During his tenure at the label, X delivered five albums — including the genre-defining It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot and Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood, which were both released months apart in 1998.
Since being released from prison for tax evasion, X has been making his rounds on the performance circuit. He even lent his signature vocals to the theme song for Epix’s new series, Godfather of Harlem.
