SALEM, Ore.–  Frank Gable the Salem man convicted of the murder of Oregon Prison Director Michael Franke in 1989 will go free today.  He will be released from the Lansing Correctional Facility in Kansas this morning at 10:00 A.M.  A Federal judge ordered Gable’s Release while prosecutors appeal an earlier order to either retry or release.  John Krauss confessed to the stabbing murder of Franke, but his confession was disregarded by prosecutors and never used to defend Frank Gable.  Frank Gable has spent 30 years in prison essentially serving time for something many have believed from the start he did not do. Michael Franke was found dead near the Capitol Dome Building in Salem.  A massive investigation followed to find the killer.  It’s estimated the investigation and trial cost the taxpayers more than $2 million.

Frank Gable is expected to live in Kanas with his wife.  He will remain under strict supervision.  He plans to spend some time fishing and hunting when allowed.
