As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, millions of Americans are left unemployed. Families are now having to dip into their savings or live paycheck to paycheck until they can find work again.
The same situation is impacting the lives and well being of professional athletes.
For those who don’t make the ‘big bucks,’ things are starting to feel a little uneasy. Portland Trail Blazer, CJ McCollum recently appeared on The Boardroom with Jay Williams and said, “I would say out of 450 players…150 probably are living paycheck to paycheck.”
He also mentions that a lot of the guys could be hurting soon as he suspects a pay stoppage may happen soon.
“I think a lot of guys are going to be hurting especially people on minimums or people that didn’t just budget correctly and didn’t expect this to happen,” McCollum said, via The Boardroom. “Maybe they loaned money or paid money to family. Maybe they’re taking care of multiple people and now there’s a work stoppage for us and for a lot of people in America.”
