Chance The Rapper Finally Tied The Knot With Kristen Corley
Looks like it did indeed happen. After teasing his nuptials with a sweet Twitter thread last week, Chance the Rapper formally married his fiancée, Kristen Corley, over the weekend.
Us Weekly reports the ceremony took place Saturday at Newport Beach, California. Actually, the pair have been legally wed since December 27, according to the marriage certificate the Chicago Tribune obtained and reported on Thursday. That was a civil ceremony, while Saturday’s affair was before family and friends.
Chance, born Chancellor Bennett, and Corley, both 25, have known one another for 16 years. Chance described their first meeting in a series of tweets last Wednesday, referring to Corley as “my wife” as he told the story of their initial encounter as 9-year-old children, when Corley and two other girls performed a Destiny’s Child routine, and invited him to join them and dance.

“I’m locking eyes with the prettiest girl I ever seen in my almost-a-decade of life on earth,” Chance wrote. “I knew I was going to marry that girl. And I ain’t wanna jump the gun. So I shook my head with anxiety, moved to the back of the crowd and never introduced myself.”
Chance continued: “16 years later, it’s happening. This [weekend] is the time, and the place is my wedding. I’m gonna dance with my wife because this is my destiny.”
The two finally met again, in Austin, Texas in 2012, realized their shared past, and the rest is history.
Chance and Corley, who share a daughter, Kensli, got engaged this past July.
