Chance the Rapper is tying the knot this weekend with a woman he knew he would marry as soon as he laid eyes on her…16 years ago.
In a swoon-worthy Twitter thread, Chance posted a photo that was taken the day he and Kristen Corley met, when he was just nine years old. It happened at a holiday party at the real estate company where his mom worked.

He was there, and so was Corley — she was the daughter of Chance’s mother’s boss. She was performing a Destiny’s Child routine with her friends.
“I’m locking eyes with the prettiest girl I ever seen in my almost-a-decade of life on earth,” he wrote. “I was just staring at her; as she and her girls were conquering this choreography and mastering the art of lip-syncing.”

Despite the fact that Chance was an outstanding dancer himself, he refused his dad’s urging to join in the routine.
“I knew I was going to marry that girl. And I ain’t wanna jump the gun. So I shook my head with anxiety, moved to the back of the crowd and never introduced myself,” Chance continued.

“16 years later, it’s happening. This [weekend] is the time, and the place is my wedding. I’m gonna dance with my wife because this is my destiny.”
The two finally met again, in Austin, TX in 2012, realized their shared past, and the rest is history.

Chance and Corley, the mother of his daughter Kensli, got engaged this past July.
