Portland, Or. –  Part of the decorative ceiling collapsed Tuesday at the Portland Art Museum’s Kridel Grand Ballroom. No one was inside or injured and the Art Museum says no artworks were damaged. It says engineers examined the third floor room and the rest of the Mark Building and found no structural safety issues.

Brian Ferriso, Director and Chief Curator of the Museum says  “so many of us share fond memories of attending events with our friends and families in the Grand Ballroom. We are doing everything possible to return this treasured space to the community.” He says they’re working with groups and organizations that have upcoming events scheduled in the ballroom and says they’ll make every effort to accommodate the events in  an alternate Museum space.
