Cassie Dishes On New Chapter As A Mother

Cassie is in full control. The singer, model, and now a new mother is ready to fully embrace her life’s latest chapter as she takes the reins of her career, and overall narrative, for the first time ever.

In a recent interview with L’Officiel, the singer dished on how “empowering” it’s been to create her latest sounds out of a place of self-assurance, as well as navigate motherhood alongside new beau Alex Fine.

“I used to spend the most time overthinking the smallest things and always worrying about how people felt that I neglected how I really felt and what would make me happy,” Cassie told the outlet. “I wasn’t creating from the heart.”

With her evolution, however, the singer has recruited a new creative team comprised mainly of black and brown women, whose support she describes as “unmatchable.” Late last month, Cassie gifted fans with the fresh singles “Excuses” and “Hungover,” in celebration of her rebrand.

“I’m doing what makes sense for my life. I’m just a woman coming into my own learning to trust myself. It’s empowering,” says Cassie.

While Cassie’s high-profile breakup with Diddy proved to be a page-turner, what the entertainer now looks forward to most is raising her unborn daughter.

“My priorities have absolutely changed, not just for creating an amazing future and life for my daughter but because I want her to be proud of me,” the “Me & U” vocalist declared. “I hope to make her understand the bigger picture in life and that you don’t have to solely be one thing in this world.”

She added: “I want her to know that she can choose. My music is just part of a legacy that I wish to leave behind, for her and other women to be inspired by.”
