Jermaine Dupri is sounding like someone’s grandfather when he spoke with PEOPLE about the current state of female rappers.

The rapper/producer reminded everyone that Da Brat was the first solo female rap artist to go platinum and that since then women have been selling more records than men.

Although that last statement could be up for debate he couldn’t name a female artist that he considered a “rapper.”

“I don’t think they’re showing us who’s the best rapper. For me, it’s like strippers rapping…I’m getting a story about you dancing in the club—who’s gonna be the rapper?” said Dupri.

Cardi B responded to Jermaine Dupri, who said during a PEOPLE Magazine interview that most female rappers are “stripper rappers” and that they lacked the skills of rapping, this prompted Cardi B to comment.

“Let me tell you about some rappers that are really f__king dope, that be rapping they ass off, and I don’t feel like they get the recognition that they deserve. Tierra Whack, Kamaiyah, Rapsody, there’s this girl called Oranika…”

Cardi was probably referring to 22-year-old Chika, she also scolded the blogs for not posting about these rappers and giving them the publicity they deserve.
