Mary J. Blige Launches New Lipstick Line With MAC
Less than a week after receiving a Lifetime achievement award at the BET Awards, Mary J. Blige is officially setting up shop in Hollywood.
According to Deadline, the Grammy-winner and Oscar nominee has signed a first-look TV deal with Lionsgate, via her newly launched Blue Butterfly production company. As part of her new deal, Blige will develop and produce series, and create content across the company’s other business platforms.
Blige, who’s touring with Nas this summer, also recently announced that she’s collaborating with MAC cosmetics for on a new lipstick collection called Love Me. The collection, which will roll out 24 lipsticks starting this summer, will kick off with MJB’s nude color, French Silk.
“I love a nude lip because it’s just effortless and it doesn’t fight with everything that’s going on,” Blige said in a statement to Allure. “Even if you’re all glammed up, there’s something about a neutral lip that makes you look younger.”
The MAC collaboration will also celebrate the 25th anniversary of her second studio album, My Life, which went triple platinum.
This is the queen’s third collaboration with the brand. She partnered with Viva Glam in 2000 with Lil’ Kim and again in 2002, along with Elton John and Shirley Manson. “Love Me” lipstick will be available for purchase exclusively online at maccosmetics.com.
Meanwhile, on the TV front, Blige will soon appear in the long-delayed season 3 of VH1’s Scream. The series, which released its first teaser on Tuesday, also stars Keke Palmer, Paris Jackson, Tyga and more.
She’ll also star in the upcoming films Violent Heart and Body Cam.
