After dropping a new track called “Caught In the Fire” on Monday, Bazzi has now followed it up with another new single, “Paradise.” He says finally putting some new music out for his fans is “really freeing.”

“I spend 95% of my life in a studio making music and you have it for yourself, and it’s this big special thing, and getting it out to people is showing people who you really are,” he tells ABC Radio. “It’s like you’re hiding…and then you put this music out and you’re sharing yourself, and you’re showing yourself, and it’s really freeing and it feels really good.”

Speaking of feeling good, Bazzi says that’s what he wanted to capture with “Paradise.”

“I kind of wanted to bottle that summer nostalgia and put it into a record,” he explains.  “It’s not about a place…’cause y’know, when people think ‘paradise,’ they think of a beach, or they think of a vacation. But “Paradise’ was more about that hometown paradise, that Friday-night feeling, and that excitement and that mystery and youth.”

After releasing his first new solo music since his 2018 debut, Cosmic, does this mean another album is on the way? Well, not exactly.

“[The songs are] stand-alones for now,” Bazzi explains. “It’s really tough to say where the project is, ’cause…there’s a side to Bazzi that can rap and then there’s a side that’ll give you big nostalgic pop hooks.”

“I kinda wanna be really free in that and not be, like, ‘I’m a guy who does this or a guy that does that,’” he continues, “but just a guy that feels and makes the art that he’s currently feeling.”
