Aaron McGruder’s “The Boondocks” Is Finally Returning
Aaron McGruder’s animated series The Boondocks, which featured the voices of Regina King and John Witherspoon, is coming back after a five-year hiatus.
Sony Pictures Animation made the announcement of the reboot Wednesday at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in France, according to The Wrap.
The satirical animated series aired for four seasons through 2014 on the Cartoon Network. The reboot is described as a “reimagining” of the original, and will follow the Freeman family as they take on Uncle Ruckus, a local official who keeps fictional Woodcrest County, Maryland under his tyrannical rule.
No details were released on when and where the reboot will debut, and if King and Witherspoon will return.
