A$AP Rocky Takes His Fashion Empire To London

A$AP Rocky has taken his AWGE fashion collection to London, and the Harlem rapper says he loves bringing his Manhattan swag across the pond to England.
Rocky’s designs, including short and long-sleeve tees, hats and sweatshirts, are now being sold in the Selfridges department store in London, and he says there’s a common bond between the city and his hometown.
“New York is a derivative of London – obviously the architecture, everything, was based off here, right?,” he tells British Vogue. “I think, even now, the similarities in culture, music, attitude, style, are still the same.”
“Most people in New York, where I’m from, they either don’t have much knowledge of London or they love it,” he adds. “They see similarities and I wanted to display that.”
Many of Rocky’s fashions are unisex, and designed to be loose-fitting.
“The reason everything is oversized is because I love that look,” he says. “When girls wear oversized stuff, I think it looks sexy, that subversive unisex look.”
The AWGE retail space, which opened this week at Selfridges, includes items from Rocky’s new collaboration with the Needles fashion line.
