A$AP Rocky‘s international legal troubles have taken a turn for the worse, with the rapper now reportedly facing “inhumane” conditions in a Swedish jail.
Tuesday, the rapper’s manager John Ehmann shared an update regarding Rocky’s detainment on assault charges
According to TMZ, a source with direct knowledge of Rocky’s living situation claims that the rapper is sleeping on a yoga mat with no blanket, and an inmate the next cell over has mental health issues and allegedly throws feces, which is never cleaned up.
As previously reported, Rocky is being held in a Stockholm jail in connection with an altercation that he says took place after two men started harassing him. According to Ehmann, Rocky volunteered to speak with Stockholm authorities following the altercation but was later arrested along with colleagues.
“On the day of his arrest, I spoke with the U.S. Embassy Consult who informed me that his request to visit Rocky was rejected by police, which violates article 36 of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, to which Sweden is a signatory,” Ehmann explained.
“Since [then], he has been allowed to visit with a U.S. Embassy Consult and attorney, but only in the presence of Swedish officials.”
Ehmann also alleges that the prosecutor in Rocky’s case is simply looking to “make a name for himself” and wants to extend the rapper’s detainment into August.
Monday, Rocky’s legal team filed an appeal for the rapper to be removed from the facility, which was rejected. If convicted, he faces up to six years in prison.
